In The Eye of The Beholder

I am officially an Arizona resident!! I have only been back in the Valley of the Sun for a week now (my furniture isn't even here)but things are already moving fast. I bought my first car, started a new job, and started architecture and design school!! I'm excited to get my creative juices flowing again and hopefully this will all lead me to a great career for my mom and I.

Like most aspiring designers I have a file full of inspiration pictures and piles upon piles of magazines!! So from here on out I will share theses pictures and inspirations with you at the beginning of the week, and hopefully inspire your day by sharing beautiful things with you and make the week ahead of you a little bit brighter!!!

I was asked to draw for a photographers brochure. My mom works for the most amazing photographer, she is trying to expand her business, and asked me do draw for the "style" section. Though its a little drawing I love that I have yet one more thing for my portfolio!!

How absolutely adorably fabulous are these pillows!!! If they weren't $149 each I would buy so many!! You can find them on Amazon under Catstudio and they have all different cities, states, and countries!!

DIY I think so!!

This is the headboard I bought at the flea market last month, now what to do, what to do???

Here are a few of the ideas that I have for it. I know I want to do it in a really great printed fabric, but I am struggling with how strong of a pattern I want. I have to take in what kind of bedding and textiles around the room I am also going to use, but these are some of my favorites!

Antiques

So to start my Fourth off right I went to the largest flea market in Northern California again yesterday. It is my second time going, and it is seriously the most amazing place I have ever been. Being surrounded by both old and new novelty items puts a big ol' smile on my face. I didn't buy anything big this time (last time a bought a headboard) because of my move in a month, but I did buy two things that I have been inspired by. One of the items seems so simple but they were just to fun to pass up, they were close pins with words written on them. In an earlier post I showcased some of my favorite things, and one of them was old rope with old cards and photos closed pinned on. So that is my goal with these cute items. The second thing I bought looks like an old frame to a mirror. I am going to take the frame and put chicken wire in it and make it a clip board for my wall!!I Love DIY projects and can't wait to get started on the next few.

Weddings and House Party

So my very very good friends back in Tejas Josh and Sarah are getting married December 30th, and have asked me to be in their house party. Which as far as I can tell is a southern tradition in which; if a bride can't have all of her wonderful friends in her bridal party, the house party is the next best thing! So here I am of course already trying to find the perfect dress 6 months before the actual wedding, I just can't help myself I'm a planner through and through!!! So as I was talking to Sarah last night she mentioned that those of us in the House Party will be in classic black cocktail dresses. Well of course I have plenty of black dresses but since I of course DO NOT repeat wearing dresses that I have been pictured in, I bought the most amazing bcbg dress. I am super excited and can not wait for my first friend(s) to get married!!YAY!!

So I was going to post the picture of the dress but it's sold out!!! Thank goodness I bought it last night when I did. I will post the dress once I receive it!

Trend Watch:Turbans

So totally inspired by Sex and The City 2 movie, turbans have taken off as the next fashion trend!! I found a great website that offers a fabulous little spin on the classic turban, its not so full fledged over the head turban, it is more like a turban headband!! Now, I don't know if I can pull this cute new trend off, considering my monstrous voluminous hair, but still I am going to attempt it, because I just think it is so darn adorable and affordable at only $32, gotta love that!

World Market Finds

So now that I am moving home, I am of course obsessed with how I am going to decorate my next future apartment(though I will be living me mom and dad for a bit haha), but after that there will no longer be a studio apartment like the one I am in now and I am so excited to decorate the whole thing myself.

As I was stalking other blogs I ran across some super cute trays from Cost Plus World Market, but OMG they have some very very cute things!!! I had no idea. I thought cost plus was all wicker furniture and weird foods, but NO they have some fabulous things. Here are my favorites!!!

BIG Life Decisions

I have officially decided to skip out on grad school, and move back to Arizona!! I am so excited about this decision, I know that it may seem rushed, but I have thought about this long and hard and I know that this is the right thing to do. I am going to move home and take interior design and photography classes. I can finally be challenged and do anything that I want without the limitations of a University!! I will continue to work at Nordstrom, but more than anything I am so excited to finally have my family with me. I haven't lived back in AZ for over 5 years, so this will definitely be different. I am so close to my family and I think it will be a great change to be able to have dinner with them and talk face to face!!

My mom and I have always have had the dream of opening our own company together, whether it was a boutique or event planning we knew we wanted to do something, but we have decided to eventually start an interior design/lifestyling agency!!! We are both very savvy business women and can sell ourselves very well haha. But this life long dream is just another reason why this decision feels so right. I know that our business will not start right away it is going to take a long time and lots of motivation, but it is all very exciting to think about!!!

Flea Market

So I have come to the conclusion that I am having an early twenties life crisis, I don't know if I am truly doing what I want to do. Don't get me wrong I love fashion and I adore my job, but I also love love love decorating and imagining rooms in my head and coming up with new ideas. I feel more passionate about interiors than I do clothing. So who knows where life will lead me, but I should probably figure this out pretty soon!!

On a kinda different note, Holly, Marli, and I went to the Alemeda Flea and Antique Market today and it was absolutely amazing. There were over 800 vendors!!We were surrounded by beautiful things and we all wanted to buy everything! I walked away with two decently sized frames, for my future frame wall, and a new headboard that the three of us are going to reupholster. Marli got a super cute cigar table(I think that's what she was calling it haha). Marli and her boyfriend Mike flip furniture and sell it, so she was looking for some super cute and super cheap things to restore. Needless to say it was a perfect Sunday morning with great friends, sunshine, and shopping!!!

Memorial Day

It was such a beautiful weekend here is San Francisco, for Memorial day. It was nice to have the sun shining and a few days off to relax and catch up on all that is needed. On Sunday my friends and I had a little picnic at Chrissy Field,which is located right under the Golden Gate Bridge. The weather was perfect the beach was beautiful and then to top it off we had the background of the bridge in the sunset, and it was absolute perfection. I mean what more could a girl ask for;beer, hamburgers,sun, and friends. It was a great night, and so appreciative to have wonderful people to spend it with.

I hate everything in my closet, and considering I stare at beautiful clothes all day, and live in a city of creative beautiful people I am going to write down my wish list, and at least get it all out of my system. Shabby Chic

I have become completely obsessed with finding new cute ideas for my future apartment. Right now I am in a studio by myself, so there is very little that I can do creativity wise, but I have made it cute and do really love it. For my next apartment which I will be moving into September 1st with my two girlfriends, I want it to be super cute (to the point in which others are jealous)!! With buildings being so old in San Francisco I know that it will need some sprucing up for sure, so I have taken it upon myself to stalk other blogs and find the cutest ideas out there!! Promotion

I am officially promoted to Nordstrom's Elie Tahari representative!!! I am one of two people in the whole company that is lucky enough to have this position. I talk to reps one on one and am their go to gal when they have any questions about the product in stores!!! I am so excited and feel so lucky to be asked to take this position, considering I have only been working at Nordstrom for 3 weeks!!Check out some of Tahri's super cute things, these are my fav.
